BEWARE OF UNSCRUPULOUS AESTHETIC BEAUTY CENTRE / MEDISPA OFFERING MEDICAL AESTHETIC PROCEDURE
With regards to recent report of complications from aesthetics procedures performed by non qualified practitioners, we would like to remind the public of the growing numbers of beauty centres / medispas who are promoting medical / surgical aesthetic procedures through the printed, electronic or social media platform. They may disguise themselves as “medical doctors” or use fancy medical terms to entice their clients to do the procedure. They often offer a remarkably lower price compared to a licensed medical clinic/hospital. Higher complication rates and even death have been reported in this unlicensed practices.
It is crucial to understand and check on the invasiveness, risk involved, premise license, and service provider qualification before undergoing any aesthetic procedure. If in doubt, please contact the relevant authorities for confirmation. You can also go to https://moh.gov.my/index.php/pages/view/2118 for the list of registered medical practitioners who are licensed to offer medical aesthetic practice in Malaysia according to their speciality.
In short, they are not allowed nor qualified to perform any medical/surgical procedure. PLEASE DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS UNSCRUPULOUS BEAUTY CENTRES/MEDISPAS.
